I was Passed over for my promotion to AO. I was notified my promotion was on the CAO’s desk awaiting approval for promotion to AO at 88B. I was then put off, and a member lower on the list was promoted to that position.

I resigned July 23rd 2024. After being brought back to duty June 17th and being notified that I was still pending board of rights by PSD I had no choice but to move on with my life and provide for my family. Currently employed by another agency.

Was an able to buy a home due to being placed off LW. My family disowned me during this period and my health suffered significantly (physically and mentally). I was supposed to have a Skelly hearing that the department was trying to serve me with but never was able to obtain the packet. Looking to obtain my back pay, pay for SOD days I would have worked, seniority, and damages.

Please note my LW time was deducted from my years of service when I entered the DROP in June of 2022. Per the pension department I lost .049 years of service towards my DROP.

I worked an average of 6+ SOD days per month during 2020 and 2021.

Since I have been placed off without pay, I was forced to use all of my savings to eat, and avoid being evicted. The trauma of having your entire savings depleted is overwhelming.

I now have zero in savings for the first time in decades. My life savings is gone, and I have no further safety net.

My fiancée left me because she could not stand the pressure of feeling that I had no income.

I have had many sleepless nights, and battled with depression. I have tried to reach out to my social network for emotional support, but barely feel comfortable even talking to friends on the issue. This is all very isolating.

I have worked very hard for LAFD for 14 years, and to lose everything at 50 years old is devastating.

I was placed off duty around the third week of november in 2021 and I agreed to take the vaccine at this point. My pay and benefits were restored immediately so I never had a lapse in pay or benefits. However, Several days later I felt chest pain following the mandatory vaccine and was off duty for approx. 4 months. In this time I missed approximately 25 overtime days.

I was placed off LW on 1/5/22 until scheduled Refresher Training on 2/6/23. I attended my scheduled Skelly hearing to acknowledge the charges against me on 4/7/22. I submitted a religious exemption on 4/12/22 per the advice of my union rep and members of my Skelly interview through Bluestone which was confirmed received by LAFD Personnel. I was not returned to duty pending exemption approval like every other member/employee that turned in an exemption. I was never scheduled a BOR and was suspended without pay for over 390 days after being in compliance with an exemption submitted for almost 10 months. I submitted a grievance and was told by the FC office that the “48 hour notice” I was served twice in November and December of 2021 was a “shortened Skelly” and therefore the grievance was denied. There was no explanation given in regards to what a “shorted Skelly” is or where that is found in the MOU/city charter/law, etc. and how that impacts whether I am suspended without pay indefinitely with no way to return to duty even with a religious exemption submitted and in compliance with the City mandated/illegal orders.

CTO is unclear. I’ve made requests to use some CTO at times, but I am unable to confirm due to paychecks for these dates are viewed in “D-time” but it looks like LAFD retired “D-time” Access.
Discharged and removed from my position as of 8/27/2024, confirmed by Fire Chief 8/29/2024. I still show “Active” according to Payroll and Personnel, but they are just processing/finalizing the Discharge orders still.

Unsure. All CTO time I used between date places off duty until being reinstated was not planned on being used. I planned to work as much SOD as possible and not take any time off during that period.

What about the days we WOULD have worked sod? I work an average of 5 to 7 a month and was signed up during the time I was put off LW. Will we be compensated for sod days lost as well??? Thank you.
